During the event, the Eagle Volunteer Fire Department puts on the “ World’s Largest Rocky Mountain Oyster Feed” as a fundraiser for the organization. The event includes a bike race, a wet and wild parade downtown, a golf tournament at a local golf course, and live music. Eagle is part of the West Ada School District, Idaho’s largest school district.Įagle is a very family-focused community and sponsors several family events including Eagle Fun Days, a 4-day annual event held in June. As it focuses on “smart growth”, Eagle offers its residents easy access to shopping, great restaurants, lodging, and other services in addition to modern, quiet subdivisions. The City of Eagle has been growing quickly over the years and its current population is over 30,000 residents. Spurwing Country Club, Two Rivers, Island Woods, and many other luxury communities have further increased Eagle's reputation as a luxury suburb. Since then, many of the more prestigious subdivisions in Treasure Valley have been developed in Eagle, Idaho. In 1976, the demand for housing shot up including high-end subdivisions like Banbury Estates. Next, Hewlett Packard arrived and the growth of Eagle Idaho real estate began. One major contributor was the addition of Eagle Hills Golf Course. The largest amount of growth and change in the Eagle area and Eagle real estate has happened since the 1970s. Eagle remained very much an agriculture-based community for decades. The land is considered very fertile with the yearly flooding of the land and high water table. Originally naming his island home after his native state, Catlin was soon persuaded to rename the island to reflect the large number of bald eagles that made the island their home as well.įarming further evolved with the development of irrigation canals. Catlin was one of those farsighted settlers who quickly realized that his real gold was to be found in farming and claimed 160 acres on Eagle Island. Many chose to seek their fortune mining, but a select few came to understand that the mining towns desperately needed the agricultural products that were fast becoming the mainstay of Boise and its river valley to the west, and they centered their efforts on those needs. ![]() History of EagleĮagle’s early history was set in motion when gold was discovered in the Boise Basin in 1862. This swath of land encompasses a variety of terrain including the North & South Channels of the Boise River, foothills, and farmland. It is located just over 8 miles northwest of Boise along Highway 44/State Street. ![]() Downtown Eagle is located between the Boise Foothills and the Boise River. Where is Eagle Located?Įagle encompasses the area from Highway 55 west to Highway 16, and from Chinden Blvd (Highway 20/26) into the foothills north of Beacon Light Rd. Here you find a hospital, retail stores, restaurants, banking, and corporate headquarters. Today there is a thriving business district along the Boise River at Eagle Rd & State Street. Not long ago, Eagle was a town that was centered around Old State Street and downtown Eagle, notably the Orville Jackson Store. Many have coined the term 'rurban' to describe the city due to its smaller downtown with sprawling neighborhoods close to farmland, and it also has a thriving business community. It is recognized for the many higher-end communities and the higher-than-average home values to prove it. The City of Eagle grew from a small village with a population of 350 in 1970 to today’s bustling community of well over 30,000. ![]()

![]() Most likely, the EU’s opposition to the UK’s application to ratify the Lugano Convention will impede the ratification of the HJC for the provision of continuing civil judicial cooperation. In August 2022, with the subsequent ratifications of the Convention by the EU and Ukraine, its entry into force became a long-awaited reality and indeed, the Convention is about to enter into force from 1 September 2023 (see my earlier blog post here: Hague Judgments Convention to enter into force! – The Institute of International Shipping & Trade Law (IISTL) Blog).Īs the jurisdiction is well-known for its strong legal traditions and robust private international law rules, the UK instantly enhances its routes of international judicial cooperation to ensure certainty and predictability for citizens and businesses involved in cross-border commercial relationships. As the HCCH announced, “the Convention will increase certainty and predictability, promote the better management of transaction and litigation risks, and shorten timeframes for the recognition and enforcement of a judgment in other jurisdictions.” Indeed, to guarantee the effectiveness of court judgments similar to what the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards 1958 (the New York Convention) ensured for arbitral awards, the HJC has become a game-changer in the international dispute resolution landscape. The Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) adopted the HJC on 2 July 2019 – 27 years after the initial proposal of a mixed instrument covering both jurisdiction and recognition and enforcement rules. Besides the open call and public responses, the officials including experts from the Lord Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Private International Law will get involved in the consultation before the publication of the outcomes. With the UK-wide call open in all three jurisdictions by 9 February 2023, the Government is seeking expert views from practitioners, academics, businesses, and any other persons with an interest in or who may be affected by cross-border civil and commercial litigation in the UK on its very welcome plan to become a Contracting State to the Convention. On 15 December 2022, the UK government published a public consultation paper on the possible ratification of the Hague Judgments Convention 2019 on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments in Civil or Commercial Matters (HJC).
